Airfare discounts for military and/or just in general?

foursquaremommy asked:

Our son is coming home on a short leave (before he leaves for the Middle East) and I have been searching everywhere for a good deal on airline tickets for his travel. I have heard about discounts one can get based on being in the military, but found nothing really other than an effective stand-by status, which he cannot do this time due to time constraints. Does anyone have an awesome contact/site they can offer up for the best deal possible? It would be so greatly appreciated! I am just trying to help him save the most money, he is going to need it. Thank you =)

Is this fair for those who receive public assistance?

grandma zaza asked:

Daniel Winslow, who was the chief legal counsel to Gov. Mitt Romney, kicked things off with a provocative essay on ways to limit spending on social services, such as using “lifestyle analysis factors” to determine who is really in need:

For state entitlement eligibility, a simple LAF checklist can consider discretionary spending such as whether persons or households seeking free or discounted state services own property, have credit cards, hold bank accounts, or own a new car, multiple cars or a boat. The checklist could also consider whether an individual purchases cable television, Internet service, or premium cell phone service and whether they buy airline tickets, possess illegal drugs, or smoke a pack of cigarettes daily.
